Palm Beach Suns Announce New Addition To The Coaching Staff

Boca Raton, Florida– The Palm Beach Suns of the PDL have named Laurie Calloway as their second assistant coach. Calloway has a combined 40 years of coaching experience and a professional playing career in English and American leagues spanning over 15 years. Calloway has committed himself to the 2016 PDL season, and is expected to generate great results this season by assisting Head Coach Chiquinho, as they are in pursuit of winning the 2016 season title.

As a professional, he has played in many different leagues, making over 500 league and cup appearances during his career. He was appointed the team captain and MVP for the “San Jose Earthquakes”. Calloway also played for the “Wolverhamton Wanders, Blackburn Rovers, Shrewsburry Town, Rochdale AFC, and York City”. Calloway’s understanding of the game, will give a dynamic adversity to the team, as he preps for the season.

“I am very excited to be back involved with top level adult soccer, I believe that my 55 years of experience as a Professional Player & Coach, 15 years of that was Coaching in the USL, I feel that my knowledge of the PDL will be invaluable to the Suns. The team should have a very successful season”. Said Coach Calloway.

Calloway has coached in many different leagues since the start of his coaching career, on a professional level and in youth competitive leagues. He lead the ‘Rochester Rhinos” USL first division from 2005-2008, taking them to 3 consecutive playoffs, and awarding him with runner up “Coach of the Year” two years in a row. Calloway also coached the “Des Moines Menace” in PDL, where he lead them to 4 US Open Cups, and 3 playoffs from 2009-2012. The Suns are excited to have signed on Calloway, his experience will take the Suns to the next level.
